WHY??
Living but a Day: Women’s Words transforms typography into embodied storytelling. Co-created with over 20 participants, the font carries the voices of those in the archive alongside those who contributed to its making. This typeface is both a tool and a testimony, aiming to amplify words that were once hidden, and offering them new forms of visibility.

WHAT??
Living but a Day: Women’s Words is a typeface created through a collaborative intervention with queer-feminist archival material from across the island of Ireland.
HOW??
The project began with a live, on-site residency at PS2 Gallery, Belfast, in September 2023. Visitors were invited to engage with fragments from Women’s News Magazine through methods of re-speaking, writing, and performance. This collaborative process grew into an exhibition shaped by public participation. The artworks created during this stage directly inspired the design of the Women’s Words typeface, bringing together archive-led artwork and typographic design.
